Flute and piano
Voice of the Turtle is a love ballad, but for much of the piece it is also a soliloquy. The lover is either absent, unrequited or imagined. The work is lyrical and melodic in the manner of many popular ballads from the past few decades, although structurally more complex. Extended playing techniques are employed in both instruments.
